“So how is it?”
“Mmmm” The young mammal tilted his head back and forth, his rabbit-like ears flick-flick-flicking as picking up a signal from far off in the world. “Yep, it’s terrible.” Lincoln laughed, clapping his hands together as he carelessly slid his meal forward. His voice seemed to echo through the chambered halls of the Leftstone Cafeteria, an almost child-like sound bouncing off the walls. The small hybrid rested his head in his hands for a second, staring off into space, chewing his spoon between his jaws. Universes seemed to swirl in his beady eyes, popping in and out of reality from his own, strange little world.
“It was no good huh?”
“Tastes about the same…” He mumbled to himself, scratching the space behind his right ear before just shaking his head and sitting back up. Without a second thought, Lincoln took another bite out of the meal, swigging it down with the milk nearby. His eyes met with his friend’s, a long snouted individual with wide ears and a toothy grin staring down in the way only an elephant could. Lincoln almost swore that he could get lost in the sea of guilt between them. “Don’t worry about it! It is what it is, ain’t it? Hurry up and stop gawking or you won’t be able to finish your meal either you know?” Endless waters seemed to flow in, but keeping afloat was nothing new in this town, was it?Lincoln stretched his arms from side to side, taking a deep breath before sliding off of his seat, trotting away with a strange, almost hypnotic, beat to his step.
"Where are you going?"
But no reply came, only the rushing waves that settled between the infinite ocean of sound.
