EXP is the currency on Back-Alley Beastars! How do you get EXP? It's quite simple! While just writing a post would be enough to gain 100 EXP, you can also do Missions (Coming soon) to gain a little extra!!
Aside from your Species, there is one more way to customize your character; SKILLS! Skills are the abilities that your character knows and are able to use during or outside of combat. However, your skill will always start off at a low rank which is why through training, threading, and missions, you can LEVEL UP your SKILL to be even more powerful!
Greenhorn (Rank 1): As a Greenhorn you have shown a passive interest in a subject or skill. You know the basics of your skill but it's just a vague understanding. You may have learned about your skill very recently or you may have been passively studying it through books and lax research but it is still just an interest. At this level you could probably show that you know about the subject in a minor depth in a conversation and you are probably able to use it on a very surface level. (1,000 EXP)
Amateur (Rank 2): As an Amateur your passive interest is becoming a bit more active and beginning to become a hobby to you. You know a bit more about the inner workings of your skill and you could tell someone what you enjoy about it. Doing this as more than a hobby is still out of the realms of possibility but you are showing that you are more than just a beginner. At this level you are beginning to practice this skill more frequently and are beginning to become much more skilled at performing the basics, maybe at this point you are starting to dabble in the more advanced techniques. You might not be able to convince anyone you are amazing but you are getting somewhere. (1,500 EXP)
Journeyman (Rank 3): As a Journeyman, you are taking this hobby very seriously and it’s more than just a gig to pass the time for you. You have mastered the basics of what your skill has to offer and you are beginning to take a deeper interest into the more advanced techniques. At this level, you are probably performing and practicing your skills twice a week. It’s still a hobby to you but your passion is clearly there and on a mechanical level you are pretty good at what you do. (2,500 EXP)
Talented (Rank 4): As a Talented, you are realizing that this might just be more than a hobby to you and that it’s something you take more seriously. You realize that some of the things you have to learn about your passion can’t be learned in practice and that you might have to begin taking a more in-depth understanding of your hobby. At this level, you are probably mastering the more advanced mechanical techniques of your hobby and you are beginning to prove to others just how good you are at it. You may be beginning to draw eyes to you because of your talent but they aren’t ready to make any offers. At this point, you may have your eyes set to incorporate this into your job or you are using it very frequently. (3,000 EXP)
Erudite (Rank 5): As an Erudite, you have taken your interest to the library and have begun to do very thorough research on how your skill works at a very fundamental level. At this point, you have become adept in using the skill and are now beginning to learn the basics of creating brand new usages of your technique or new creations with your skill. You are either learning this from heavily researching from other people’s work or asking the people themselves for intern jobs. At this point, you might be beyond learning by yourself and will have to rely on the pillars of your skill for help or you will find yourself nose deep in a book about how to go beyond your current level. You are beyond just talent at this point you are beginning to turn this hobby into something that makes you irreplaceable. (4,000 EXP)
Professional (Rank 6): As a Professional, you are being heavily watched by the people who could make use of your skill. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed and you are an expert about your skill. At this point, you are able to tell from a glance what someone is doing wrong and how to correct it. You have gone beyond just creating new techniques and are now beginning to apply them and show them off. If you are an artist you might be selling your art to art houses if you are a martial artist you are probably doing tournaments. People may start coming to you and offering you proposals for job offerings or invitations to certain events. Your research and studies have paid off and you have shown that you are both mechanically capable and well-versed in your craft. (5,000 EXP)
Genius (rank 7): As a Genius, you are recognized by the community as someone of great ability and are a pillar of your skill. At this point you are capable of creating new techniques and crafts with your skill on a whim and are capable of structurally proving what you did. At this point you are beyond even the college level professionals of your skill and can prove it to anyone without question. People are beginning to come with you not just with offers but with gifts. Students may be coming to you for apprenticeships or people may come and admire your skill. Your skill often makes the news and you are a publicly known figure among your community. (5,500 EXP)
Savant (Rank 8): As a Savant, you are the pinnacle of your community even among the pillars. You are the heart and soul of the skill and there is nothing you hold a greater passion then. At this point, you are capable of incredible feats with your skill and are viewed as someone of great importance on a political level and your name is often associated with your skill. Whether you keep it a secret or not you are the peak of what your skill has to offer and people know. (6,500 EXP)
